ROBERT TETU

For over 40 years Tetu has been a ceramist, showing his work in dozens of solo and group exhibitions and winning many awards.

At his Beechwood Pottery studio, a restored historic building in southern Ontario near the town of Seaforth, Tetu produces a line of high fired functional pottery of uncompromising craftsmanship and quality in stoneware or fine porcelain and is well-known for his carbon trap Shino glaze.

His travels to India, Southeast Asia, Mexico and Central America, studying native folk pottery, have made him a sought-after speaker and workshop presenter to potters' groups, as well as an exhibition juror.

Robert's porcelain is included in a number of private and public art collections, notably those of the Governments of Ontario and Brazil, the permanent collections of the Potters' Guild of Hamilton and Region, the Waterloo Potters' Workshop and the Canadian Clay and Glass Gallery, Waterloo, Ontario. Trained at the Ontario College of Art, he has served on the Board of Directors of the Ontario Crafts Council, as President of FUSION: The Ontario Clay and Glass Association, and as a juror for the Ontario Arts Council.
