Mary Philpott
Mary creates unique sculptural pieces reflecting the animals and avian world that she illustrates in her two dimensional tiles.
In addition to receiving a B.F.A. in Art History and Archaeology at the University of Guelph, Ontario, Mary is a graduate of the Ceramics and Design program at the School of Craft and Design at Sheridan College, Oakville, Ontario. She has also studied Anthropology and Archaeology at McMaster University, Hamilton, Ontario and Ceramic at Alfred University in New York.
She is the recipient of awards from the Ontario Craft Council (the Helen Copeland Award for an established artist working in her field – 2015) as well as the Toronto Outdoor Art Exhibition (2017).
Mary works as a full— time Studio Ceramic Artist, designing tiles for custom work, producing a line of limited production, hand pressed tiles in porcelain, with intricate surfaces. Mary also creates unique sculptural pieces reflecting the animals and avian life that she illustrates in her two dimensional tiles.
